To book an appointment at the surgery you would need to telephone the reception team on 01724 292000, or walk into the surgery. Appointments at the surgery are on a pre-bookable or same day urgent basis.
Please mention at the time of booking your appointments:
- If you prefer to see a specific doctor or nurse
- If you need an interpreter
- If you require a smear or routine contraception
- If you think you may require an intimate examination
- If you are unsure whether the nurse would be able to help you with you condition
We operate a same day appointment system, although a small number of appointments are available for pre-booking. Appointments can be booked by telephoning on the day from 8am. Consultations last between 10-15 minutes depending on your appointment type, and only one medical problem can be dealt with at a time. We will always try to see you at your allocated time, however it is not always possible to stick rigidly to these times as the nature of medical work is such that some patients have complex conditions that take a little longer to sort. We hope you understand if you have to wait a little longer.
Making an appointment:
The receptionist will ask for brief details of the reason why you wish to see the doctor as there are occasions when a health problem is best managed by another member of the team, information given is treated in the strictest confidence. You may ask the receptionists if wish to see a specific doctor, but not all of our doctors work every day.
Some problems can be dealt with simply talking to the doctor or nurse over the telephone. This can be more convenient and save you time. When you call for an appointment the receptionist will offer you this service and the doctor will then call you back between the hours agreed. If the doctor/nurse feel you need to be seen they will make an appointment for you to come into the surgery.
